The Inspiration: Nicole Kidman in Practical Magic

Nothing quite competes with the style status of a rebellious witch from the 90's.

Apparently Practical Magic (1998) is a film that a lot of people watched when they were younger. I can see why. It's a cute film about two sisters (Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock) who are brought up by their two aunts in a cute suburban town in America, and they all happen to be witches.

The thing is, unlike most witches who simply wave a wand or point their fingers, these witches are the herbal-remedy, potion-cooking type of witches. They work for their powers. It's quite bohemian.

I had never even heard of this film, which is quite strange considering my undying love for witches, the '90s, and any films involving freakishly close sisters. So I watched it. The story is cute, but not amazing.

Unlike Gill's (Nicole's) clothes.

Gillian is the rebellious, party-girl sister who likes to practice her magic, wear dark clothes and embrace the gypsy trends of the '90s. She is pretty much the ideal style inspiration for autumn/winter... or if you're looking to take your style to the dark hippie side, like me.

Special thanks to Judianna Makovsky for creating another unforgettable wardrobe to aspire to.
